GOC offers custom built interactive story maps and location aware map applications to enable virtual exploration of a region and specific recreation or cultural exploration with highly accurate navigation
Story maps provide a wonderful launching pad to explore the broadest range of adventure opportunities available in a region. The pull together high level descriptions of activity mixed with rich multimedia content into an easy to navigate format.
A typical story map has an introductory section, then separate tabs focusing on the recreation or cultural resource. Activity specific maps are custom built for each particular activity to enable detailed exploration and planning for that activity.
CUSTOM MAP APPLICATIONS
Map applications dive to the next level of detail for a specific activity. We compile and standarize existing agency data into comprehensive datasets which include roads, recreation sites, trails, public/private land designations and historic sites. This same rich content as the story map adds searching abilities and user controlled feature selection with detailed popups. Map apps also enable user configurability for basemap selection, distance measurement, and user created notations. More importantly, these applications work well on mobile devices for navigation much like google maps, but with activity focused information!

RECREATION INVENTORY
GOC provides recreation inventory services covering the continental United States. We’ve worked with several federal and state agencies to accurately and thoroughly document the recreation and cultural resources available in a given study area.
Our inventory specialists use state-of-the-art GPS (and optionally SBAS) based equipment, high resolution geolocated cameras, and high frame rate location aware video equipment to capture large areas of interest. To minimize impact on natural resources and maximize efficiency, our field technicians use dual sport motorcycles to efficiently transport them and their equipment into the most remote locations of any area.
